2. Relevant Biography:
a) Please describe your relevant professional experience and expertise and explain how this background will make you an effective AC member.
Matthew Wilder is a Senior Engineer with TELUS Communications, a leading ISP and technology company headquartered in Vancouver, Canada. At TELUS Matthew is responsible for driving IP Inventory automation along with IP Address Management and IPv6 strategy. Matthew serves the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) in a number of volunteer roles. He has written articles for IEEE Canadian Review, as well as blogs for ARIN, ISOC, and other industry publications. Matthew holds a Bachelor of Applied Sciences from the University of British Columbia as well as a Master of Business Administration from the University of Victoria. Matthew was elected to the AC in October of 2020, and re-elected in 2023. His current term expires 31 December 2026.

3. Eligibility:
a) Please disclose any conflicts of interest you may have, real or perceived, that would impact your ability to perform your duty as a member of ARIN’s Advisory Council. How do you propose to resolve any such conflicts?
As a representative of an ARIN member organization holding a large number of resources, it is possible there could be a perceived conflict of interest. In the event that a policy were to arise which creates a conflict of interest, I would identify this to my peers on the Advisory Council and recuse myself from corresponding discussions. Likewise if asked to perform the role of policy shepherd for a policy which would create a conflict for me, I would notify the AC chair, and decline to act as shepherd of such a policy.

4. Nominee Information
a) Have you attended ARIN meetings or otherwise participated in ARIN activities in the past? What did you find the most rewarding from those meetings or activities? What suggestions for improvement do you have?
I have attended ARIN meetings since as far back as 2010. ARIN meetings have served as a very compelling community of interest around several topics related to Internet operations, including IP Address management, IPv6 adoption, routing security, and more. To enhance the community aspect of the ARIN meetings I would encourage the further development of ties between ARIN and NOG communities.
b) What areas of Internet number resource policy, if any, need more attention by ARIN, and why?
Simplification of the policy manual would be beneficial, and although making significant changes to these policies may be a challenging task, I believe it will benefit the Internet community in the long term.
c) Aside from the professional experience and expertise detailed above, describe any other specific skills, background, and/or areas of expertise you believe will assist the Advisory Council in carrying out its duties.
My technical expertise developed and exercised through my day job at TELUS help me to be knowledgeable enough to gauge the technical soundness of policies as they run through the policy development process. Given that technical soundness is one of the major requirements of policies, I feel this serves my ability to effectively fulfill the duties as a member of the Advisory Council.
